BogotA

From the 28 of July to the 3 of Aug I was in Bogota with C - and it was the best time ! I hadnt been there since highschool and boy has it changed.... the weather was nice.. not hot at all, a bit gray (like london)... friday (29th) we went to La Candelaria, Plaza de Bolivar, Casa Narino, Monserrate, Museo de Oro, Museo Botero, Juan Valdez, Plaza Santander...sat(30th) off to El Tren Turistico de la Sabana, to Zipaquira, Cajica (good food), and las minas de sal de Nemocon. Sun(31st) La Sabana- Food provided by Rancho Chico and Family and then off to Subachoque..we also flew a kite that crashed into a tower...Mon (1st) hmm this is a funny one... up at 430 am , busterminal at 530 am, on the first collectivo (yes, collectivo..not bus) at 540am headed to Chiquinquira, after a nap and then serious dizzyness due to a campesino that smelled like cow poo we arrived and got onto another collectivo headed to Ramillete de Leyva... "uds. se bajan en el peaje..." ..ah ok... after a beautifual and comfy drive into the colombian countryside with authentic campesinitas (with alpargatas and braids) we got off and jumped on the third collectivo of the day and finally arrived in Villa de Leyva...there we ate 4 arepas... we were hungry and did some shopping before heading on to the bus headed for bogota at 1pm.... (we had arrived at 10 am)....tuesday (2nd) my nun! yes there are nuns in my family and this is my lithuanian nun that after some beggining gave me the information I needed to start my european passport process! woo hoo.. yes hello passport numero tres! Later that afternoon I took C to a san andresito.... contraband galore! He cant complain.. he had the most complete colombian experience... super fancy dining and wining, not much clubbing, a nice countryside
with cows and such....(he said the mountains here look like switzerland.. hey cant be a bad thing... keep in mind..ONLY the mountains...)and some sketchyness with the multiple collectivos and potential scary spots..which all became unscary.... Nothing happened on wed... we each flew back to where we had to go and i studied for my french test at the airport....since I missed the plane..... anyway i passed with flying colors since i am a genius jajjajaa and then saturday morning I had a rendez vous with my dear lithuanian colombian buddy AM. nothing much happened there but we are once again in contact via email... im telling you...what was life like bfore internet...before google!!>
to wrap things up.... the time in Bogota was great.. no kidnappings, muggings, accidents, nada! so if a red head can come down and have a good time so can the rest of you,.....stop being wusses.
