22

oOoO Yesterday was a huge hit despite the awful rain. Never in 22 years have I needed to wear layers on my birthday! In the morning I made Cosimo watch Maria Llena de Gracia and then we went off to Trident for a birthday brunch with Janike. She gave me the cutest watch!! It was one of the many gifts that made this birthday better than others. Then off to the Museum of Fine Arts to see the Ralph Lauren car exhibition- it was a good thing to do on a rainy afternoon. The cars were super pretty (look at my pictures) , and if you are a boy reading this Im sorry for not describing these masterpieces better. They are the stuff all male fantasies are made of. (and those of golddigging and nin~as huecas --> oo baby the porsche! o the bentley! ooooo ) They are very nice though, give credit where credit is due. Ralph Lauren has fine taste.
After some rest and a long baby-like nap, off to Gypsy we went in the pouring rain. Becca, Jenna, Diego, Andres, Isaac, Roberto, Cosimo, Janike, Luigi and me gave in to the horrible beats of hip hop for a while. The best song was of course La Tortura by Shakira and Alejandro Sanz. Im telling you , my friends can dance! well... not all of them...but one day we will move like Shakira.
Since my birthday came to an end, I went to do some errands and now Im back looking at useless albeit very entertaining websites- - Two websites to look at in your spare time: The Gallery of the Absurd and Awful Plastic Surgery.
And off I go.
p.d. I named my ipod Milo. :)

15 minutes to my bday...actually 21 because I was born at 12:06 am. Thanks to Isabel for the magazines, a nice blend of what I need to pursue...ja! in both realms..the girly and the professional... oh how I had missed the Economist!!! Some of the mags will be a graduation gift and the others will for the girly 22 year old...

Aaaah 20 minutes more !!!!

Formally Unemployed

Ay ay ay, canta y no llores, que cantando se alegran, cielito lindo, los corazones!!!
After arriving at McDonalds on Harry Agganis Way (Comm Ave) at 8:40 am in my shinier-than-the-rest-toga, we were freezing. Some pictures were taken with the usual suspects , through the metal detectors we went, then we were given ghetto bagels that were so chewy you needed a gallon of water to wash them down (but there was only wierd dole juice) . We kept on freezing, until someone told us that is was allegedly warmer under the tents. We ran into the CAS one, were barked at by some marshall (what and who are they anyway?).... and eventually recovered body temperature. Needless to say, the food was left on the floor in a corner.
Two hours past, again with the same people posing for the same pictures, and some singing, (especially by the very hungover Andres that even on his graduation day had the ipod on.) Luis J proceeded to make everyone sign his toga (which is visible in some pictures) (its a colombian thing). We also got these little asian girls to take countless pictures of us. I was the token girl because Monica stayed home, Aleks came and went, and the Porican girls were too cool to stand in line with us. Ligia parecia un trombo de lo inquieta que estaba and some other brazilians chilled with their flag on their caps...we should have all done that...Hubiera sido bacano tener a una fila de banderas.
Finally we walked at 11 am onto Nickerson Field, back into the freezing cold. I blame this low body temperature for the lack of crying. It was so cold it was hard to click the camera. The honorary degrees came in, with the Snipers looking attentively...si francotiradores..on the roofs of west campus. When a feew drops of rain fell, we all put on our super attractive plastic ponchos, which made us warmer..I was also sitting between Luigi and Nacho so there was some body heat. How we did not get pneumonia is a miracle. The President Karzai of Afghanistan came to the podium and spoke of how morality should overrule national interest. ah the perfect commencement for an IR major. A helicopter flew over the field and the snipers pulled out mega binoculars. Everyone that spoke took care to mention that the class that had started a week before 9/11 and that had lived the Reversal of the Red Sox Curse were enlightened (more so than others) and had an international mindset...these people have not heard the idiots in GSU talking about Middle Eastern politics. (dude the GSU has a webpage!) Uno por uno se pararon Luigi, Diego, Nacho, Roberto cuando llamaban los nombres de sus escuelas (SMG , COMM) ya que nos habiamos sentado en CAS.
After leaving that commencement late, almost 40 minutes late.. it took forever to get to fit rec for the IR ceremony. That one was over and done within an hour (not bad)... I sat with my GG 331 people, Monica, Aleks, Assema, and the Poricans joined us to (Lali woo hoo) , and Aliana. (all girl ensemble) . They told us to not cheer for individual people so we went ahead and did it anyway. After four years of yelling for no reason why would we stop now? This time there was a reason. Por lo menos no llevabamos pancartas as other people did... thats a bit much.
After collecting the diploma (its pretty but seeing it didnt do anything for me) we took more pictures outside (welcome to the cold) , afterall we could not take every picture in the gym...even if its new...its a gym. Im proud to say that my 5 dollar toga was a hit. Looking shinier in pictures and even maybe a bit pink it still was fine, even though everyone had something to say about it.
We headed down comm ave for a quick lunch, provided by the Brazilian friends in Kenmore Square and got free flan (when you ask , you receive) .... Dinner was at Casa Romero on Newbury (nothing free in there)... Isabel was supposed to attend but she went to Paris... the gift of the day was a lime green mini ipod !!!! I had no idea my mom knew they existed...she is cooler than what I know!
After my dinner at Casa Romero, we went to Roberto, Nacho, Luigi and Marco's dinner at Chart House on the Aquarium Wharf. They organized a dinner for everybody they knew...We met and greeted with the genitori , finally putting names to faces after 4 years of adventures on comm ave.. (where else?)
We were all dead, since we had been up since 6-7 am but to prove that we still had it in us, that not all was lost, that college was not the end of fun, or the end of youth for that matter, we went to Saint for some sunday night partying. We stayed for about an hour, maybe a bit more... we proved it. After all we are 21..actually I turn 22 Tomorrow. ahhhhhh.. College is Over!( I still have no realized it) all I can do is play with the ipod.

4 Days to Graduation

Or should I say 4 days to UNEMPLOYMENT? Well this week has passed rather quickly, and I have not done anything... Isabel is off to Paris- well endowed with neccesary gifts such as books, smodnoc (oh Palomina you are such a Prude!) and a goodbye lunch at Scoozi. Let me remind you Isabel, that we never had the Blogging tutorial... so here is my ghetto attempt at putting these links in. See how I learn?

As you may notice, I am the type of person that appears in 98% of the pictures that she takes. Theres no point in accumulating pictures of other people.
Last night was great- Dear Diego went through the great pain of organizing and getting everyone there. And there everyone was, these parties , (like the 100 days to graduation) are very successful at getting everyone to party in the same place. There was plenty of VodkaRedBull to get me happy maybe too happy but thats ok. You only graduate once and besides , we had to celebrate amazingly good grades. Its kind of funny how getting the A's gets so easy right when its almost over.

From this point forth...

Today at 9 am I officially handed in my last paper. I know this might sound as if I am romanticizing this whole ordeal but

1. Yesterday for the first time (I suppose it will happen alot this month) Someone said "mira, es que si no te vuelvo a ver, have a nice life!" ....:(
2. It is a known and proved fact that people get stupider after college. Thus this last paper will be the paragon of Ruginis writing as I know it.

Now I only have to wait for May 22 at 2 pm and then I will be super officially finished with undergraduate life.
Its going to be wierd to say the least to not have anything to do, no september to look forward to, no deadlines, no busy homework, no endless emails from professors, no office hours,no pop quizzes....the more I list it in this way however it seems like a life I can get used to..;)

Today after I turned in the paper I thought I would go to the gym and to make a long story short I ended up walking back down comm ave and seeing one of my pet peeves (another thing I should make a list of) I hate it when people do not close their mouths... what are you doing? You look stupid and lost, out of it, and retarded. Ive seen this happen in classrooms, walking, etc. There is nothing you could possibly be thinking about that makes you forget that your jaw can remain closed effortlessly.

This joins the pet peeves as my now cranky Isabel (she's still in finals poor thing) says "je deteste"..Ill just do it in spanish, french can come later. (this summer to be precise)

Yo Odio Cuando...(O No Entiendo Porque...) La gente que no cierra la boca, No usa desodorante, No se compra blusas que le tapen la pansa( I mean big guts) , Los hombres demasiado flacos (i.e. emo punk kids = MANOREXIA), La gente que despues de 4 an~os de universidad todavia no puede hablar bien (like, um,like, um) , Ugg boots and Mini Skirts, Gente que se pone chanclas (flip flops) para andar por ahi (solo se deberian usar en una piscina, playa, despues de un pedicure y en un communal bathroom), Pantylines with stuff like Yoga pants (or anything else for that matter, People that are ignorant by choice, People that dont cut their toenails and then wear flip flops! (ew), Name Dropping and Flashy Stuff, Peoples whose lives revolve around pot.

and now for last a quick confession, so to say:

Intelligence is Sexy; Determination is Sexier.

If you dont already know, I am profoundly in love with Carlos Vives... Isabel doesnt believe that he used to be hot..be besides the point, its just the music. 2005 Senior Breakfast

Oh well so this morning started early (9:00 am at GSU) , some arrived hung over , or drunk...or just tired... and before us was placed a gross plate of eggs and ham..boo hoo. Some formalities passed , like a wierd wierd prayer (1. I thought this was a non-denominational school, 2. "Whatever wierd or devious paths have bought you here today" ?? " Fill the world with nourishment" ) ..well then out of the blue dear president ad interim Dr. Aram Chobanian belt out a couple of tunes. ja!! (He gave us cable, so be it!! and he said we were supreme about 6 times)
The sad part was the icon of Orientation 2001...how sad!! It made me teary but then Lali threatened with hitting me if I did..dude May 22 is going to be a sobfest.

(see pics:

This is the stupid lame way of giving out the link to the pictures...if Isabel taught me how to actually work my way around this thing it would be nice.
Just so you understand why all the girls have floral centerpieces in their hands- I thought it was a ghetto latin thing to always want to steal the centerpieces at weddings...but apparently we all do it! Before you knew it they were gone, they were also a pain to carry back to the dorm. Considering the fact that I locked myself out and needed to crawl in through my neighbor's window. But they do look super nice in all the pictures, bright and orange, even though it looks like we were at a wedding instead of school. Practicing, anyone?

Bueno Pues...(as in ok why are you still talking to me when I want to hang up??)
thats enough for now

p.s. Im running out of my pernigotti gianduiotti, baci perugina, and lindt lindor. The other day my baci perugina message was so awww romantic:

El amor se crea en un instante para despues perderse en el infinito
